Street Associates was established in 1989 by Roger Street. His background was as a senior commercial banker with one of the major clearing banks before forming the company. 

 
 

The original aim of the company was to source corporate and commercial finance for clients looking to either acquire new businesses, additional property or merely refinance. 

 
 

The success of Street Associates was, and still is, based very much on the innovative way of thinking and sourcing of finance. The main criteria is to structure propositions such that banks will understand them, and fit in with their own lending parameters.

 
 

Shortly after the company was established, it was realised that the directors and partners of the businesses also required assistance with their own personal commitments, and in particular residential mortgages. It was at this time that the company expanded its remit into residential mortgages.

 
 

Street Associates are now directly regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. It specialises in residential mortgages for those directors and partners of businesses and deals predominantly with the larger loans. The company is extremely successful in obtaining mortgages where clients have a complex source of income which many lenders find very difficult to assimilate. 

 
 

Approximately 15 years ago, the same clients not only enquired about residential mortgages in the UK but started enquiring about mortgages on properties they were looking to purchase overseas. The company very quickly found out that lenders in the UK were not particularly experienced in this type of transaction, although they claimed to lend on properties abroad. This proved extremely cumbersome and consequently to overcome this, the company built up relationships with banks in the countries where the clients were acquiring property, and this has been extremely successful. The banks in those countries understand the legal system, have the appropriate contacts and can move forwards very quickly form offer to completion. It is extremely easy to communicate with these lenders from both the company’s point of view, and the individual clients. 

 
 

Street Associates is considered to be one of the foremost experts located within the Midlands for overseas lending, and can source mortgages in mainland Europe, the Caribbean, and the USA. 

From small beginnings, Street Associates has now grown to be regarded as one of the most reputable commercial and residential brokers, with a wide range of skills in all areas of lending.
